The Story of a Photographer
I am a proud Canadian and a dual citizen of Australia. My beautiful daughter was born during a world pandemic which has lead me straight to turning my passion for photography into a business. Traveling has been a huge part of my life for the past 10 years and has shaped me and given me a really important perspective on life. My husband and I don’t do anything half ass, it's always big and extravagant. When we were first dating we cycled across Canada to raise money for children’s cancer in 2011, while living in an RV. That was the ultimate test for a relationship, fast forward a couple of years and he put a ring on it. We went on an extended around the world trip for our honeymoon and incorporated volunteering and giving back to communities in third world countries, which broke my heart and made it so full at the same time..... philanthropy has always been a huge part of our lives.
My favourite things in the entire work include: Any body of water, swimming, camping, being in nature, diving, baseball, snowboarding, drawing, painting, crafts, renovations, home decorating, a need for speed, adrenaline sports, being a Mom and her teacher.....seeing the world through my daughters eyes. And of course being around all the humans I love.
What I care about are the simple things. I'm a sucker for any love story. The history of families and memories to pass down for generations is what really makes my heart tick.
Taking walks along the beach, having a picnic in the park, friends over for a BBQ, playing lawn games, laying in a hammock at our cabin on the lake, staying up late under the stars with my husband, swimming and hiking with my family, growing a garden, picking berries, sitting in silence and stillness, uncontrollable laughter — embracing every moment to the fullest potential.
As a photographer this type of stuff I want to capture for you and your family, because this is the real and raw moments. This is what love and life really looks like, It’s not posed, its not like the movies, its not like a Pinterest board. It’s so much better than that, Family is messy, crazy, chaotic and busy, but that’s all part of what makes it beautiful. Just remember it's your story and your memories, I’m just there to slow down time and capture those memories for you to cherish forever.
My why....
HOW MY BUSINESS CAME ALONG
I have always had a passion for photography even more so when travelling, I received my first camera from my parents when I was 13. I use to love taking the photos, saving my allowance and developing the film. I have a ridiculous amount of photo albums, but I’m a little old school I love seeing and touching the images verses having digital copies saved. Photographers usually say they don't have a lot of photos of themselves, however I am the opposite from a young age I loved being in photo's and capturing those memories. And I am so glad I did because I can’t wait to pass these along to my children.
I recently just became a Mom, She is my why in every way. Not only do I want to capture every moment of her growing up, but I want to show her that women can do anything and be anything. We can run our own business, we can have a family and a career, we can follow our dreams and do what makes our heart happy. I want to show her to follow her passion, where ever that may lead her. I want to teach her to challenge the rules, speak your truth, to love and respect your body as a temple while you go through many beautiful transitions and go after what you want in life. I was lucky enough that my Mother supported me and taught me these morals and values growing up.
